Seminal Paper in the Standard Model of Particle Physics Turns 50

Fifty years ago this month, UT Austin theoretical physicist and Nobel laureate Stephen Weinberg published a paper that laid out a unified theory of the electromagnetic and weak forces, establishing key ideas in what would become the Standard Model of Particle Physics. The paper, “A Model of Leptons,” was the most-cited high energy physics paper for more than 30 years. (Read more)

To celebrate, the ICTP invited professor Weinberg to present a talk on October 17, 2017 titled “Reminiscences of the Standard Model.”
