Prof. Keji Lai Receives DOE Award

Professor Keji Lai has received the Department of Energy (DOE) Early Career Research Program Award for his proposed work entitled “Microscopy of Electrostatic Field Effect in Novel Quantum Materials.” He is among the 61 selectees for fiscal year 2013 chosen based on peer review of about 770 proposals.

Now in its fourth year, the DOE Early Career Awards support the development of individual research programs by outstanding scientists in their early stages of careers. This five-year research grant of $750,000 also provides incentives for scientists to focus on mission research areas that are a high priority for the DOE and the Nation.

Lai joined UT Austin’s faculty in 2012.
