"The IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole: Latest results and preparations for upgrades"

Abstract: IceCube has transformed a cubic kilometer of natural Antarctic ice into a giant neutrino detector.

After more than ten years of operations, IceCube detected more than a million neutrinos from 10 GeV to 10 PeV energy. Some of these neutrinos are of cosmic origin. Recent highlights include the observation of energetic neutrinos from a nearby galaxy 50 million light years away. Most recently, close to home, we have seen our Milky Way in neutrinos. At lowest energies, above 10 GeV, data from IceCube-DeepCore can be used to measure neutrino properties using atmospheric neutrinos.

I will report on results, plans, and preparations for upgrades. The IceCube Upgrade with 2 Mtons will go into operation in 2026. Beyond that, Icecube has plans for IceCube-Gen2, an 8 Gigaton observatory.
