"Lasers and accelerators for the future: starting up Tau Systems, Inc."

Abstract: Our own Prof. Hegelich will kick of this semester’s Technical Seminars by describing his new Austin-based company Tau Systems, Inc., which he started to market affordable, compact lasers, accelerators, and X-ray sources for 21st century science, technology, and education. Hegelich is a pioneer in laser-plasma techniques for accelerating charged particles to multi-GeV energy with tabletop apparatus, which are opening transformative applications in medicine, materials science, and discovery science.
