"Subsystem conformal symmetries"

Abstract: Fracton phases have recently attracted much interest in the condensed matter and high energy communities. These exotic theories do not fit nicely into the Wilsonian paradigm of continuum quantum field theories, forcing us to stretch the boundaries of what a quantum field theory can be. I'll focus on the scale invariant (RG fixed points) models of fractons, which have independent scaling symmetries in different spatial directions as they are not rotationally invariant; and discuss recent work with Andreas Karch on the novel conformal structures found in the continuum description of these models.
