"Investigating topological mode of surface acoustic wave using transmission mode of microwave impedance microscopy"

Abstract: The research of topological phase in acoustic system grabs lots of attention in recent days. However, similar researches of Surface Acoustic Waves (SAW) in GHz region remains as challenging task due to difficulties in imaging SAW patterns.

Using our technique, Transmission mode of Microwave Impedance Microscopy (T-MIM), we can visualize surface acoustic wave potential with high spatial resolution. This noble technique allows us to investigate various topological phases in Acoustic system in micro/nano scale.

Our research includes 1) gapped/gapless state of SAW using phononic crystal and 2) Acoustic Valley Hall effect. This will help us to understand topological phases in condensed matter. Also it implies great potentials of applications in electromechanical systems.
