"Behind the horizon"

Coffee and cookies will be served at 3:45pm in RLM 4.102

Abstract: The AdS/CFT duality is an equivalence between quantum gravity in an asymptotically Anti-de Sitter (AdS) space and a Conformal Field Theory (CFT). This equivalence implies that information regarding the entire asymptotically AdS space, including the region behind the horizon of a black hole, is contained in the boundary quantum field theory. It is still not understood precisely how the physics behind the horizon is encoded in the CFT. But there is progress. In this talk, I will show through two examples -- subregion/subregion duality and traversable wormholes -- how AdS/CFT probes the region behind the horizon.

Location: The John A. Wheeler Lecture Hall (RLM 4.102)
