"Towards a Comprehensive Educational Ecosystem at the University of Utah"

Coffee and cookies will be served at 3:45pm in RLM 4.102

Abstract: The Physics & Astronomy Department at the University of Utah is pursuing several educational reforms with a goal of creating a more supportive, inclusive, and challenging environment to better prepare our students for a variety of career pathways. The collective efforts of the physics/science education research community provide important guiding principles for our work, and several specific education projects around the nation serve as compelling models. I will discuss some of these key principles and projects, in addition to some of our efforts to transform courses and curriculum at Utah. An important motivator of this work is to provide more equitable opportunities for students with different backgrounds, gender identities, socioeconomic status, etc., to succeed.

Location: John A. Wheeler Lecture Hall (RLM 4.102)
