Abstract: The new Diagnostic Medicine program at the DMS is developing a unique plan for a more integrated approach to medical diagnosis. Building on traditionally strong radiology and pathology services, the clinical program is being designed to maximize patient friendliness, operational efficiencies, and diagnostic accuracy by better coordinating patient services, integrating test data and results, and providing real time clinical decision support tools to the DMS community. Fostering the advancement of the clinical programs, the department’s research efforts are focused on developing new physical, chemical, and biological tools to maintain health, improve diagnosis, and better manage disease. In addition to providing educational programs in medical diagnostics, the development of a Medical Physics program is proposed.
