"Scattering Matrix Approach to Transport in Superconducting Heterostructures"
10:00am, RLM 11.204
Abstract: With the advent of superconductor based quantum information processing(QIP), theoretical understanding of the transport properties of superconducting heterostructures have become important for the advancement of the field. A scattering theory approach to the description of heterostructures based on the Bogoliubov-de Gennes(BdG) equations will be outlined. An illustrative example of the BdG approach will be given by studying the Superconductor-Normal-Superconductor(SNS) junction including a re-derivation of the Josephson effect directly from the scattering matrix of the system. We'll close out the talk by tying our calculations back to some experimental work corroborating our results.
