"Geometro dynamics of electrons in deforming crystals"

10:00am, RLM 13.202

Abstract: A transport theory of electrons in a time-dependent deforming crystal is developed. It is accurate to the first order of inhomogeneity both in space and time. The difficulty of aperiodicity is overcome by local approximation. Applying wave-packet method, the equations of motion of electrons are derived including Berry phase effect. Fiber bundle picture is used to grasp the geometrical feature of the theory. Adiabatic current due to inhomogeneity is identified and analogy to post-Newtonian gravity is made.
