"How rare are the vacua in large-dimensional landscapes?"

2:00pm, RLM 7.104

Abstract: String theory predicts a vast landscape which accommodates universes with different properties. This complexity and large number of realizations with different properties create the possibility of answering difficult cosmological questions, especially the cosmological constant problem. Recently, using statistical arguments, the viability of large dimensional field spaces came under scrutiny. Here, we present a careful analysis of the possible number of vacua in a toy landscape comprised of a Gaussian random field.
