"Helicity and gauge symmetriy--from classical to quantal vortexes"

Abstract: The helicity is an invariant of ideal vortex dynamics, characterizing topological constraints posed on vortex lines. Invoking the Clebsch parameterization, we reveal its fundamental relation to the gauge symmetry of vortex systems. We then formulate quantal vortexes on spinors. We discuss possible applications to quantum plasma theory.
