"Probing Multi-MeV Photons at Intensity Enhanced Texas Petawatt"

Abstract: With the successful contrast upgrade of Texas Petawatt Laser, F/1 off-axis parabola will be installed along with a full aperture adaptive optics system to generate laser intensity ~ 2×1022 W/cm2. At this ultra-relativistic intensity, radiation reaction force begins to affect the motion of an electron in the laser field, yielding a specific gamma signature. Several PIC based simulations predict specific gamma signature at 1023 W/cm2 with certain conversion efficiencies. A Gamma to Electron-Positron Magnetic Spectrometer (GEPMS) based on Pair-Production and Compton Scattering is proposed to characterize the gamma energy spectrum.
