"Plasma Turbulence in the Equatorial Electrojet: Observations, Theories, Models, and Simulations"

Abstract: The radar and sounding rocket observations for the plasma instabilities in the ionosphere E-region and the related theories are presented. A unified fluid model of the gradient-drift and Farley-Buneman instability and the simulation results are reported. A verification of the energy conservation and the mechanisms of generating small-scale structures through the energy cascading in a non-canonical Hamiltonian system is shown. In addition, the role of the solar winds in enhancing these instabilities is discussed.
